Intentional Discipleship Within a Church Under the Care of Qualified Elders

This is the apostolic pattern that the Apostles followed and that the Holy Spirit has preserved in the New Testament record for us to follow. We see this in Acts 14:21-23. Paul and Barnabas were preaching the gospel in the various cities of Asia Minor. Yet they were working with those who had been converted by discipling them. They did this by teaching and encouraging them to continue in the faith and with such teaching and encouragement gathering them into church communities and appointed elders in every church (not just one elder but a plurality of elders in every church community). Evangelism and discipleship were carried out within the life of particular church communities.
