A genuine disciple’s life in Christ is an inward work of grace whereby the Holy Spirit cleanses the heart and imparts a new nature to the soul. He remains inside the disciple’s life to help that new nature grow and mature. The Holy Spirit is the internal witness to Christ and to the trustworthiness of the Bible. This new birth or regeneration is the headwaters of personal and progressive holiness.
