The Lord's Table and our partaking from the Table are really a proclamation of the fact and meaning of Christ's death. The Table presents to you the Gospel. The risen and exalted Christ, the God-man comes to us by the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the elements of the bread and the cup. While Christ is not physically present he is present with us in by the Spirit as we receive by faith the bread and the cup. By faith we commune with Jesus Christ as we receive the elements and receive the grace and benefits of the Gospel so that our faith is strengthened. Therefore, it is always necessary for us to consider the content of the Gospel when we come to the Lord's Table.
